Mr. Right and I received some shocking news on Friday.
The baby kicking around in my belly isn't what we thought it was.
It's a girl!
We were so surprised, but so excited!

We really, really thought that it was a boy. So, we have learned one of our first lessons in parenthood: nothing is predictable with children. It's a good lesson to learn, and we are glad to learn it sooner rather than later :)
To celebrate our exciting news, we went on a shopping spree. At a thrift store, of course :) We found some incredible vintage dresses and jumpers that I am so, so, so excited about! Then my mom lent me some of the beautiful little dresses that she has saved from when I was a baby. It is so special to think of my little girl wearing some of the very same outfits that I used to wear! Because we had been planning on a boy in our minds, we have lots of thinking and planning to do. We have some names that we love, but we aren't in any rush to settle on one just yet. We want to spend some more time getting to know our daughter before we name her.
One thing's for sure, though. She is busy! The ultrasound technician kept commenting on how wiggly she was, and how hard it was to get good clear shots of her because she was moving so much. And now that she's a little bigger, I feel her moving like crazy all day! And for the first time, Tyler was able to feel her, too. Each little step has been so exciting for us.
What wasn't exciting was the nasty flu bug that we both got. We were both soooo sick all day yesterday and most of today, too. My midwife even had me go to the hospital to get re-hydrated with an IV, but instead the doctor sent me home with an anti nausea prescription that finally helped me keep down some fluids.
But we're doing fine now. Little miss sunshine is still kicking away in my belly, and I've been trying to drink as much clear liquids as I can today to get rid of this bug.
And every day, we just look at each other and laugh. We still can't believe it is a girl!

We are thrilled.
