On Saturday we went to Provo's Freedom Festival with my parents, my sister Karyn and her family, and my niece MiMi who is in town. I didn't get any pictures of the crazy booths and crowds, but let me just tell you that Provo goes all out. There are crafts, toys, jewelry, clothing, art and all kids of things to look at and buy, like the sweet license plate flag above.
See all those flags below? Each one has a different meaning and I actually learned a lot about the history of our flag and how many trial versions we went through to get the one we have today. And one of my favorite parts about the festival is the food. I got a delicious Gyro sandwich (I love Greek food!) and a big "Texas Twister" lemonade. Deeeelicious! Then after we were sufficiently worn out, my mom treated us to ice cream cones at the Creamery. What a day!

That night we headed to the end of the BYU soccer game and then watched the Stadium of Fire show from the field. The weather was so nice and the show was fantastic, as always! The picture below is of me, Tyler's sister Cortney in the middle, and her roommate Alexi who just so happens to be from the town in Florida that I grew up in, Stuart. Needless to say we were instant friends :)
Sunday was pretty normal. Went to church, taught Primary, went to dinner at my parents, etc. Tyler's sister Cortney is staying with us while she finds a place to live here in Provo and it's been really fun to have some company while Tyler has been busy with the World Cup :). The Winn's have a tradition of making a big fruit pizza every Independence Day, so she and Tyler made one Sunday. It was the first time I had ever tried it and it was divine, especially with my mom's garden strawberries all over it. Yum!
Then Monday we started the day off with breakfast at the Magleby's and the Provo Independence Day Parade. It's basically the same parade every year, but we still love the tradition of going to it and cheering at all the floats and beauty queens.

Tyler still insists that he is Scottish, even though he recently found out that his ancestry is only about 3% Scottish... ha!

Gotta love that the Elders are in the parade every year. Only in Provo!
After the parade we went up to Sundance for a Davies family reunion, of sorts. My dad's cousins were in town for a wedding and wanted to get our families together. I had never met any of these people, and quite honestly, I will probably never meet them again, but it was fun anyway. The picture below is of the Davies girls on our side of the family. My sister Karyn with her daughter Elsie, my Aunt Becky, my cousin Kristin, my niece MiMi and my mom Cindy.

Overall, we had a busy and exciting weekend! In fact, it was so busy and exciting that we didn't do any homework at all. Blah. But tomorrow is my birthday, so I haven't really done much the rest of this week either! Who cares, it's holiday time, right? :) And this was my last Independence Day without kids, so I guess I was entitled to do whatever I want haha. Can't wait until next year, though!
